Start with equivalent setups
A useful comparison puts devices with similar coverage and intended use next to each other. Comparing a compact tabletop panel with a large modular system can make almost every specification look more dramatic than it really is.
The six questions we use
How much area does the setup cover? Which wavelengths are present? How much control does the user have? How is the device mounted or expanded? What warranty and return terms apply? Does the manufacturer provide enough documentation to understand safe use?
Why we do not score panels
A single score hides tradeoffs. A buyer who values modular expansion can reasonably make a different choice from someone who wants a simpler panel. Our job is to make those tradeoffs visible.
Technical numbers need context
Irradiance is especially easy to misuse. Measurement distance, meter type, beam pattern and whether the reading is a peak or broader average all affect interpretation. Read our irradiance guide before treating one published number as a brand ranking.
